I've written on numerous occasions about state Senator Russell Pearce's ongoing battle with the truth, whether it's denying his past friendship with neo-Nazi J.T. Ready, or spewing false stats about illegal immigrants.
But misleading his fellow Senate Republicans? That's the implication given by the report above from Channel 12's Brahm Resnik for his "Sunday Square Off" talk show.
In this segment, Resnik confronts Pearce with statements by newly elected Senate tuskers, who've told him that Pearce cut a deal to become Senate President and Sith Lord of All Arizona, promising GOPers that he would not sponsor any new immigration legislation in the coming year.
Pearce, of course, denies that there was a deal, then tells Resnik that, say, in the case of legislation to abrogate the 14th Amendment guarantee of birthright citizenship, he'll let some of his mini-me clones do some of the work, while he helps grease the skids.
"I support it," he tells Resnik. "I intend to help move it. But I have other folks that would like to carry that water."
You know, like Pearce's henchmen in the state House, state Representatives John Kavanaugh and Carl Seel.
Resnik asks Pearce if the Senators-elect who made him King Kong of the Senate misunderstood him about his supposed no-new-Hispanic-hatin' legislation pledge, 'cause that's the way they heard it.
"That's absolutely not true," Pearce said of the claim, adding, "It wasn't a promise made. It was my response to the 14th Amendment...I said I don't want to be the guy to carry it."
I hate to say it, Russ, but neo-Nazi J.T. Ready is more credible than you are. Pearce will say and do anything to advance his ethnic cleansing agenda. If you see his lips moving, and buy the hogwash coming out of it, that's your bad.
