While Halloween has us dressing up like the dead for cheap thrills and free candy, Dia de Los Muertos makes sure we stay in their good graces. Spend the day honoring Mexican traditions as well as the deceased at the Second Annual Dia de Los Muertos Phoenix Festival.

This interactive cultural event will offer something for everyone regardless of age or heritage with 60 performing artists, masked characters, an arts market, food, booths, a traditional candlelight procession, and arts activities such as mask-making, sugar skull decorating, and face painting. The festival happens Sunday, October 27, at Margaret T. Hance Park, 1202 North Third Street. Admission is free and festival hours run from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. with La Procesión starting at 5:30 p.m. For more information, visit www.diadelosmuertosphx.com.
