It's fitting that the Honeywell rodeo team (yes, the Honeywell rodeo team) honors aerospace cowboy Cliff Garrett each year in a memorial event for charity. Garrett tamed the young, rip-snorting field of aviation with inventions such as pressurized cabins and auxiliary power. This year, the Cliff Garrett Memorial Rodeo busts out of the chutes at Scottsdale's Rawhide, 23023 North Scottsdale Road, at 2 p.m. Saturday, November 8, and high noon Sunday, November 9. In addition to bull and bronc riding, catch the VIP Calf Scramble, wherein top execs from each Honeywell facility don jeans and chase calves around the arena, trying to snatch ribbons off the bovines' rumps. Friendly competition? Hardly. Gladiators at the 19th Avenue and Deer Valley Road facility have already cleared a spot in their trophy case for this year's award.

Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for youngsters 6 to 12; cowpokes 5 and younger get in free. Tickets to the dance at 7 p.m. Saturday are $5. For more information, call 480-502-5600.- Kim Toms
