John Coltranes ensemble helped to introduce the oud to Western ears, folks like Don Cherry kept oud listeners intrigued, and cats like Rahim AlHaj are keeping the Arabic stringed instrument in Americas consciousness. AlHaj will showcase tunes from his Grammy-nominated Ancient Sounds (2009) album as well as other numbers.
