Those so-called “cultured” types sure love to brag about their love of poetry. We aren't sure how they get their fix of literary arts. But we like to imagine that they sport berets, hang around coffee shop open mic nights, and theatrically mope about bad breakups when they aren't giving each other snaps in lieu of claps.

Obviously, not everyone can be Emily Dickinson, Edgar Allan Poe, or Shel Silverstein, but attempts to emulate them often result in a good laugh. Thankfully, those attending Poetry Slim won't need to stifle their giggles, as performers recite their best original (and joke-ridden) sonnets and haikus. The comedian-poets will riff on on old classics with intentions to make the audience chuckle. The typical poetry slam can border on “so bad it’s good,” but Slim will take raunchy bathroom couplets to a whole new level.
