Since Perihelion Arts moved from Grand Avenue to Roosevelt Row, it seems like you guys and gals have forgotten all about the diagonal street on First Friday. Maybe thats why the Grand Avenue Merchants Association decided to hold the Grand Avenue Festival on a non-First Friday namely, Saturday, September 26 in order to remind us that the thoroughfare is home to some of the citys most innovative art galleries, performance spaces, and shopping destinations.
Along with historic-building tours and visual art, there will be live music and fashion shows. Longstanding business owners in the area hope the shindig ignites new and renewed interest in the area. "We think people especially people who haven't been to Grand before should come because there's a thriving community of businesses here, and some folks might have overlooked it unknowingly, says Trunk Space part-owner JRC. You aren't getting the full story behind PHXs creative community if you haven't been to Grand Ave."
The fun starts at 8 a.m. with tours of historic/adaptive re-use buildings.
