Where can you find a fix of pure, unadulterated sensual pleasure for the insanely low, low price of $6? You know, without habit-forming side-effects or the use of needles? Try the Trunk Space in Central Phoenix, where some of the regions top up-and-coming ska and surf-rock acts will convene for a night of frantic energy-release and mid-week abandon. Conceived by Valley live-music-gadfly DJ oneboycircus, the show will also afford fans a crash-course of sorts in ska/raggae literacy. Opening the event will be DJ oneboycircus himself, followed by Phoenix threesome Liam and the Ladies, who practice the 2tone style of ska popularized by such 80s legends as Madness and The Specials. Next up are Tucsons The Boogie Nazis, a high-energy surf-fusion band in the mold of Los Straightjackets. Finally, theres the headliner: The Dendrites! a rambunctious, nine-strong ska/raggae/surf instrumental outfit from Colorado that boasts a wrecking ball four-piece horn section, in the bands own modest estimation. If you cant catch them at the Trunk, The Dendrites! are also playing the next day at the Sail Inn in Tempe. Mmm, thats good ska.
