Phoenix Art Museum has always had a thing for Asian art. Its permanent collection of Chinese, Japanese, and Southeast Asian artworks is not only massive, but also well-regarded. The "No Snow on the Broken Bridge: Video Work by Yang Fudong" exhibit is another amazing gem in PAMs new series of exhibits featuring the work of contemporary Asian artists.
Fudong, born in Beijing in 1971 and originally trained as a painter, has steadily amassed international fame for his beautifully composed photographic and video works. For this show, Fudongs 35-millimeter black-and-white film installation, which gives a nod to traditional Chinese handscroll painting, will be projected onto eight separate screens.
Tuesdays-Sundays. Starts: July 8. Continues through Sept. 14, 2008
