Big Lie About Phoenix number one is that the city has no history. You only have to spend a few minutes around hip valley historian Marshall Shore to dispel that notion. The sharp-dressed, bespectacled font of local knowledge regularly dispenses facts about the quirky nature of our fair city, and on Friday, August 3, he’ll weave the town’s past into the state’s recent 100th birthday with his “Centennial Cavalcade” presentation.

In past presentations, the self-styled information curator has dug up the skinny on Winnie Ruth Judd and the Phoenix trunk murders of 1931 and led tours of the valley’s most unique landmarks. With this talk, Shore will be sure to upend the dusty, dry tone of most historical lectures with his breezily charming manner.
