Diner 50

Diner 50 is a ‘50s-themed breakfast and lunch diner situated in a rough-looking strip of south-central Phoenix. But don’t be swayed by the somewhat shabby surroundings. Inside, the colorful diner, which is decorated with ‘50s-era antiques and dozens of vinyl records, is cooking up some very good, no-frills classic American comfort food. The food is a throwback. You’ll find old-school breakfast plates like rib eye steak served with eggs and potatoes. For lunch, there’s hot and cold sandwiches, and a menu of very good burgers. If you’re feeling particularly nostalgic, check out the small dinner menu, which features classic midcentury meals like liver and onions, pork chops, and a surprisingly dense, moist meatloaf.
