When you put your key in the ignition and turn on the radio, what station would play right now? NPR. I don't rely on FM for music much these days. The playlists on every channel are far too small.

What's the first album you bought? The soundtrack to Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure.

What's the first concert you saw? Veruca Salt.

What's your favorite concert you've ever been to? Buena Vista Social Club in 2000. I have never seen anyone rock as hard as they did.

What's the last song played on your music player? "Blackbird" by The Swingle Singers.

Preferred format: CD, vinyl, cassette, 8-Track or digital? Vinyl, but not so much so that I refuse to listen to music on other formats.

What's your favorite album? Flood, by They Might Be Giants.

Who is your favorite singer or band? I've got to be cliché and go with The Beatles.

What was your favorite new or new-to-you album from 2011? Seeking Major Tom, by William Shatner. No, seriously.

What one song would you play if you had a world-wide radio audience? "O Holy Night," by the musicians of New Orleans. The 2006 recording was created by the musicians displaced by Katrina to send money to their families. Even if I didn't think that was an amazing story, I'd still think it's one of the most beautiful recordings ever made.

Who is your favorite local artist? Dangerville.

What is your favorite local venue to see music? The Trunk Space.

What is your favorite music video? "Knights of Cydonia," by Muse. The song is perfectly fine, I suppose. But any video with kung fu cowboys on motorcycles fighting laser battles with Valkyries in Buck Rogers outfits gets a thumbs-up in my book.
