Local artists listen up: you have a chance to design public art for the Pueblo Grande Museum entrance.

And, assuming you make the cut, your budget would be $1,800,000.

$1,800,000

Let that sink in...

Tough to imagine isn't it? So is the year 1100, which is when the experts say Pueblo Grande acted as a Hohokam hub for their irrigation canal system.

"The goal of this project will be to create an equally efficient and inspiring pedestrian connection between this historic site and Phoenix's new light rail system and future automated airport train," says the City of Phoenix Office of Arts and Culture.

The winning artist will work with a landscape architect, the Pueblo Grande Museum staff, city departments, and the community.

This new entrance will cater to pedestrians and will be located at the southeast corner of 44th Street and Washington.
