The official blog of old-school OC punk rockers CH3 might not be the first place you'd think to go to in search of a review of Glee. But don't miss out; it's well worth a read. Over the course of more than 1,200 words, a CH3 member band articulates a brief history of rock 'n' roll on television, discusses dry-humping the couch to the flickering image of Tenille (accompanied by the Captain) on The Midnight Special, Gene Simmons and Ozzy before they became reality show shills, and, eventually, Glee itself, posing the question: "Why do I get the uneasy feeling this crapfest is really just a thinly disguised version of the ol' Columbia House record club scam!?" Despite such acute pop culture analysis, CH3 never achieved the same status as some of its contemporaries. The band appeared on the second Rodney on the ROQ compilation alongside Agent Orange, Black Flag, and Social Distortion, but kept a lower profile than those bands, touring throughout the '80s and resurrecting after a '90s hibernation to blast out melodic but scrappy songs like "You Lie," "I Got a Gun," and songs from 2005's self-titled outing on Dr. Strange Records. Just don't expect a Glee rendition of "You Make Me Feel Cheap" anytime soon, no matter how appropriate it would seem.
