Valley artist Drew Alexander, who goes by the moniker Square Eyes, knows you don't need a major label to produce high-quality work.

The local singer-songwriter and producer, whom we profile in this week's issue of Phoenix New Times, is no longer signed to Geffen Records, but judging by the slick clip of his song "All Night," he may as well have had the major label funding usually needed to produce such well-edited videos.

He and his collaborator, Gerald Tennison (who also runs their production company Outer Space Jams with Alexander), shot the video here in town, using the Scottsdale Waterfront area for the setting. While he says the video was inspired by dark themes such as addiction and insomnia, he's positive feedback that the song has come to inspire others.

"'All Night' isn't really about things or events. The phrases are meant to evoke. This type of song comes directly from the subconscious," Alexander, 24, says. "Someone told me the line, 'All you feel is love' helped them reaffirm their love for God during a difficult time. I was completely floored. I realized it could mean romantic love, love for God, or any reason for being overwhelmed with joy."

The clip has already garnered more than 30,000 views, showing Alexander's work continues to resonate with his fans, even sans label.

All Night

All night, licking my wounds
Tell you my story but it ends too soon
All night, tell me your name.
Change the characters, but it ends the same.

Oh now we can share scars.
I can show you mine, but you found it in the dark.
All night, tell me your name.
Change the characters, but it ends the same.

All you feel is love, love, love, love, love,
Even when it's buried underneath.
All you feel is love, love, love, love, love,
Even when you're hanging by a string.

All night, talking me down.
Can you carry on? Can you go another round?
One night's all that I need.
Sticking to the script, but I'm changing my scene.

Letting go
Is assuming you had control
All night, all night,
If you can touch it, It's real.

All you feel is love, love, love, love, love,
Even when it's buried underneath.
All you feel is love, love, love, love, love,
Even when you're hanging by a string.

It's a hopeless little feeling.
And it burns my heart.
If I take you in,
Promise not to ever let me go.

So don't let me go.

All you feel is love, love, love, love, love,
Even when it's buried underneath.
All you feel is love, love, love, love, love,
Even when you're hanging by a string.
