Ever wondered what a zombie Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer looks like? Take a gander at this flier.
It was created for metal band Living Sacrifice for their A Very Metal Christmas Tour. Since the name of the tour has to do with Christmas, Tooth & Nail Records/Invisible Creature art director/designer Ryan Clark wanted to "blend the ideas of heavy metal and Christmas in a fun way."
"The aesthetic surrounding metal is usually that of a very serious tone, and sometimes it's fun to take a more tongue-in-cheek approach," Clark says. "I started with the skull, and when I found the antlers, the rest just fell into place. I hope that people get a good laugh out of it. It's Christmas, it's metal, it's Christmetal!"
Living Sacrifice is joined by several other groups at the Nile Theater show this Tuesday, December 7, including Arise Oh Fallen from here in Arizona, Becoming the Archetype, To Speak of Wolves, As They Sleep and Overcome. Michelle Donovan, co-owner of Mantooth Group and Nile Theater, calls Overcome "local legends" and promises the show to be just as awesome as the flier is.
"I like the flier," Donovan says. "I think it keeps the bands' metal 'cred' but then adds a bit o' holiday cheer with the Rudolph nose."
