Maybe it's the 40th anniversary of Woodstock and the other big events of 1969, but it seems like 60s revivalism is everywhere these days. I mean, shit, even U.S. News and World Report is getting a little sentimental.

On that note, I'm sure more than a few boomers out there will be excited to hear Gil Scott-Heron is coming to the Rhythm Room on October 3. The poet, musician and proto-rapper is most famous for "The Revolution Will Not Be Televised," a saying you probably know even if you've never heard the song. You really should hear the song -- video above -- and maybe consider seeing this nugget of 60s culture performed live.

Me, I'm just trying to score an interview to ask Scott-Heron if the revolution will be Twittered.

Scott-Heron was definitely right about one thing though, as he predicted: "Green Acres, The Beverly Hillbillies, and Hooterville Junction will no longer be so God damned relevant..."
