Nicki Minaj claimed via Twitter on Wednesday that she had no idea about a concert booked for Montclair State University. It turns out that she wasn't lying: the show was actually a scam.
She tweeted, "what is this i'm hearing about a MSU concert? where and when is this concert supposed to be? i feel so bad 4 ppl who were scammed," later saying that she would expose the name of whoever was responsible for the mess. She also encouraged fans to always verify her official tour dates at her website, mypinkfriday.com.
MSU students started camping out as early as 11:30p.m. Tuesday night, according to the Montclarion.
The Student Government Association had indeed been tricked by Premier Talent Agency, which was thought to be Nicki Minaj's agency but has no association with her. Eventually the SGA was able to touch base with her real agency. A contract was signed with someone who the SGA thought was Minaj's agent, and a payment of $27,000 was sent as well.
Despite this unfortunate situation, Nicki Minaj is being a pretty good sport about the situation, as is the SGA. In the meantime, while everything gets sorted out over at Montclair State, check out her new song "Right Through Me."
