Once a year, the nerds unite and take over.

Phoenix Comicon can be exhausting (there are only so many back issues and vintage clamshells you can look over), but it's worth the effort for the people-watching alone. Wonder if some guy has imagined a medieval Captain America? Why, sure someone has. Eager for a glimpse of The Shat? They've got him, too.

Our intrepid cartoonist Brad Dwyer was there, selling zines and greeting fans. If you haven't checked out his series Epic Tales of the Mundane, do yourself a favor and get on it. The black and white pages, filled with sardonic and often heartbreaking stories, reveal the same wounded humor we're happy to showcase every week.
