East Valley residents will have one less place to celebrate during St. Patrick’s Day, as one of the two R.T. O’Sullivan’s in Mesa no longer is in business.

The Stapley Road location of the Irish-themed pub and sports bar reportedly closed recently after four years of serving import and domestic brews, game-time action, and a variety of distractions, like Texas Holdem and cornhole.

According to the R.T. O’Sullivan’s website, the location shut its doors in mid-February and was sold to unnamed buyers.

The property, which is on Stapley just south of the Superstition Freeway, first became part of the chain in 2012 after the previous tenant, McGrath's Fish House, went out of business. Like other R.T. O’Sullivan’s spots, it put on raucous parties during St. Pat’s and also was frequented by fans of both the UFC and the WWE throughout the year, as it regularly aired monthly pay-per-view events from both companies.

Its shuttering is the latest in a series of changes that the R.T. O’Sullivan’s chain has undergone since 2010, including closing its locations on Bell Road in Glendale and along Southern Avenue in Mesa. The R.T. O’Sullivan’s on Superstition Springs Boulevard in Mesa is still up and running and (true to form) has a big spread planned for Saint Pat’s.
