When the old Sail Inn closed its doors late last year, Tempe scenesters shed plenty of collective tears as one of their favorite hangouts went kaput. Now the drinking den has been reborn as Trax, a "casual but trendy" nightspot with a posh interior, 14-foot video wall, and lineup of local DJs spinning Thursdays through Sundays. The most popular night thus far has proven to be Saturdays, with DJ Rephil manning the turntables, and plenty of ASU kids, banging babes, and other hotties hitting the dance floor. Known for his stints at such other Valley danceterias as e4 and the now-defunct Arizona Beach Club, Rephil (a.k.a. Phil Richard of Hype Entertainment) keeps things hopping by spinning plenty of classic rock, dance, hip-hop, and Top 40 jams. Make Trax starting at 9 p.m., with no cover.
