Admit it, you don't know much about The Jesus and Mary Chain beyond puzzling over what Bill Murray whispered to Scarlett Johansson at the end of Lost in Translation.
It's okay, you're not alone. Jedidiah Foster, the singer and guitarist of The Bittersweet Way introduced his bandmates to The Jesus and Mary Chain in preparation for the next installment of the Cover the Crescent series. This month pays tribute to some of the bands that defined the good music of the '80s: The Cure, The Smiths, Depeche Mode, and of course, The Jesus and Mary Chain on Thursday, February 23 at Crescent Ballroom.
"As a band with our original material, we're very much that '60s pop [band] but turned up really loud, so Jesus and Mary Chain is a natural fit," says Foster, "What we just did is very pretty and kind of countrified when Jason [Cowles] is playing guitar. The way we're approaching the whole show is much more faithful to the original in the sense that it's gonna be...expect a lot of noise and high volume."
The Bittersweet Way's cover of "Taste of Cindy" sounds like a cheerier take on the acoustic version of the original song. Check it out after the jump.
