An emergency deployment to Hollywood Alley might have deprived them of sleep and beer money, but it wasn't about to keep our Club Candids photographers off their usual July beat: Taking pictures of people who would probably have left Phoenix for the summer if it weren't for the pool parties.

As always, then, we've collected the fruits of their labor, as partial repayment for forcing them to walk around a pool with extremely expensive camera equipment in triple-digit weather.

Fatboy Slim - Maya Day & Nightclub - July 4, 2013

Renowned big beat icon (and all-around British bloke) Fatboy Slim staged an invasion of the States and celebrated the most American of holidays with the winning side of the Revolutionary War when he visited Scottsdale on Thursday, July 4, and performed a special DJ gig at Maya Day & Nightclub. And the vanguard of EDM's halcyon days of the early aughts didn't disappoint as he laid down a massive mix of his own tracks ("Praise You," "Fucking In Heaven," "Song for Lindy") with heavy-duty house and electronica hits, which brought the afternoon-long Independence Day pool party to a high-energy climax.

Downtown Tempe and Old Town Scottsdale's numerous bars and clubs were swarming with co-eds dressed in red, white, and blue ensembles and celebrating Independence Day after the sun went down and the fireworks ceased on Thursday, July 4. Up in Scottsdale, they crowded into joints like Hi Fi, Martini Ranch, Smashboxx, and Shotgun Betty's, as well as the second floor WET Deck at the W Scottsdale Hotel.

Down on Mill Avenue, however, the sidewalks along the thoroughfare were full of people after Tempe Beach Park's big bash let out, as were such establishments as Gringo Star Street Bar, Mill Avenue Cue Club, C.A.S.A., and World of Beer as folks enjoyed drinks and beats while raising a toast to 'Murica.

There was an excess of both hootin' and hollerin' going on inside rustic-yet-upscale Old Town Scottsdale drink joint owned by Arizona-born country superstar Dierks Bentley during its opening night festivities on Thursday, July 4.

Pool party season is in full swing. This past weekend we hit up Spanish Fly's weekly pool party where plenty of locals were cooling off at the Mexican-themed beach club.

Monarch Theatre was full of folks sporting shiny, black vinyl outfits, gas masks, and an assortment of aggressive, pulsating beats for the appropriately titled "I Love Industrial" dance party on Saturday, July 27. The summer's definitive industrial showcase included performances by Tactical Sekt, FGFC820, Might Mike Saga, and more.
