The New Zia Records Store in Mesa Will Open on Friday

The wait is over for music lovers in the East Valley. Zia Records will open its brand-new Mesa superstore on Friday, July 15, at 9 a.m. 

The company first announced the store opening back in April. The 11,000-square-foot Mesa location will be Zia's fifth location in the Valley, and the second in the East Valley. The store already has two locations in Phoenix, one in Tempe, and one in Chandler.

In the world of instant online shopping, retail stores must survive on personality, selection, and service alone, and it's these factors that Zia co-owner and vice president Brian Faber attributes to the chain's success.
"Yeah, maybe it's against some of the national trends, but what can be missed in those trends is the power of being a good local company.," Faber says. "We are very lucky to have such great customers."

The store is located at the southwest corner of Gilbert Road and Southern Avenue, at 1302 South Gilbert Road. Roughly 30 employees were hired to staff the new location, Faber says.

In addition to music, the store will have all sorts of DVDs, posters, comics, toys, and other merchandise. Faber sees a resurgence of culture in Mesa, and he's proud his store will help contribute to it.

"I think Mesa is in a really good spot right now. You see a lot of good things popping up," Faber says. "There are a couple of record stores in Mesa. We're excited to be a part of that. When people ask me about other stores, I'm like, the more the merrier. It's good that people are loving music and entertainment. There should be a lot of stores."

Zia joins two other stores in Mesa — Asylum Records, located downtown, and The House of Used, which is at 2706 East University Drive.
