About 10:30 p.m. yesterday, a woman flagged down a passing patrol car as it drove through her trailer-park neighborhood near Superstition Boulevard and Ironwood Drive.
The woman told Apache Junction police about shots fired in a nearby residences. Inside the mobile home, cops found a gun and two men -- one in his 20s, the other in his 40s -- shot to death.
One of the men was shot multiple times after about 12 rounds were fired, Captain Thomas Kelly of the Apache Junction Criminal Investigations Unit tells New Times.
While the cops have yet to identify the bodies, they're sure the two men were not residents of the trailer park. The trailer in which they were found didn't have a license plate and only recently showed up to the park a few months ago.
"We obtained a search warrant this morning and talked to the owner ofthe mobile home," Kelly says. "We're following up on a lot of leads right now, just trying to find out the while picture. We're still at the preliminary stages of the investigation."
While no arrests have been made, police are looking for three people they think are involved in the shooting.
This was the first homicide case in Apache Junction this year.
Police expect to release the names of the two victims within the next few hours. Check back for updates.
