No, we are here to report on the absolutely miserable three-game home series in which the so-so Milwaukee Brewers came into town and crunched the home boys by an aggregate score of 26-6.
The series was most notable for a remarkable hitting feat by a journeyman outfielder named Jody Gerut, who hit for the cycle on Saturday -- finishing the rare deed by stroking a double with two outs in the ninth of a 17-3 (eek!!!) Milwaukee win.
Arizona tumbled into last place behind the LA Dodgers, in large part because the team's pitching staff already has given up 50 homers, by far the most in the majors.
It's been Home Run Derby down at Chase Field, and the locals aren't coming out on top.
Another note:
We were sorry to see the D-Backs demote outfielder Gerardo Parra to Triple-A Reno over the weekend. The guy is money with men in scoring position, and the play he made in left field to end a mid-week game in Houston was a beaut.
We suspect and hope that Parra, the hustling kind of ballplayer we like, will be back up to the bigs sooner rather than later.
