A man believed to have murdered an infant in 2007 has been arrested and extradited back to Arizona.
In September, police in Lake Havasu put out a warrant for 33-year-old Glenn Michael Peralta for the October 2007 death of an infant in the Desert Hills area of Lake Havasu.
According to police, the Mohave County Sheriff's Office was responding to reports of child abuse at a residence where Peralta was staying, when officers found an injured 7-month-old baby.
An internet support group created by the family of the dead infant says that Peralta was dating the baby's grandmother at the time of the child's death. When the baby's mother and grandmother went to get the family cheeseburgers one night, Peralta was left alone with the baby and four other children. When the mother returned home, the baby was unconscious and not breathing.
The infant, Dekota Harryman, was taken to the hospital, where she was discovered to have serious head injuries. She died the next day.
Peralta was arrested and charged with assaulting the infant but was released three days after the baby died because authorities wanted to "wait until they get the full, detailed autopsy reports from the medical examiner's office."
The other children under Peralta's brief care were placed in foster care after the incident, where one of the boys told CPS workers that "papa (Peralta) was hitting and throwing sissy (the infant) against the wall."
Since the time of the murder, Peralta was living in San Bernardino, California, where he was arrested last week. He was extradited back to Arizona last night.
Peralta is facing child abuse and first-degree murder charges for the death of the baby.
