In the midst of one of the worst financial crises in Arizona's history, the city of Phoenix was offered some serious cash for the naming rights to Sky Harbor International Airport. One problem: the company offering the money is a dating Web site for married people.

Ashley Madison.com offered the city $10 million to rename the airport "The Ashley Madison International Airport" for a period of five years, which the city quickly declined.

The city gives no specific reason why it declined the generous offer, only saying the naming rights for the airport are not currently for sale.

Seems like a polite way of telling the company to get real, but we have a hunch the real reason has something to do with the company's motto: "Life's short, have an affair."

AshleyMadison.com does a lot of its advertising on porn Web sites (we've only heard, of course) and skeptics think the offer may just be a publicity stunt to generate some mainstream attention.

Publicity stunt or not, 10 million bucks is 10 million bucks. The city may want to call off the morality police and save some cops and firemen.
