An Arizona State University student was shot last night and has since died from his injuries. Police haven't identified a suspect in the case and are asking the public's help in tracking down the person, or people, responsible.

Tempe police aren't releasing too many details about the shooting, and calls to the department have not been returned.

Here's what we know, though, based on a press release issued by the department this morning.

The student, 21-year-old Zachary Marco, was shot near the intersection of University Drive and Rural Road about 9:30 last night.

He was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police received a tip at the scene of the shooting that two black males may have been involved. The two men left the scene before police got there.

According to police, the motive for the shooting still is under investigation, and investigators are treating the case as a homicide.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Tempe Police Department at 480-350-8311 or call Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS.
