About two weeks ago, we reported that at this year's Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction in Scottsdale, the ambulance that carried President John F. Kennedy after his 1963 assassination would be on the auction block. Today we learned the ambulance getting auctioned off by Barrett-Jackson could be a fraud.
A blogger for the Web site Jalopnik.com wrote a post last night, in which he claims the actual ambulance used to carry Kennedy after he was gunned down in Dallas was destroyed in 1986. That information, he claims, came straight from the United States Navy.
See a letter from the Navy below.
The ambulance is scheduled to be auctioned off tomorrow. Representatives from Barrett-Jackson did not immediately return our call this afternoon.
