Three Chandler schools were put in lockdown this morning after an unknown suspect assaulted a 72-year-old man in his home and then fled on a bicycle.

The three schools -- Chandler High School, Galveston Elementary School, and St. Mary-Basha Elementary School -- are no longer in lockdown, but the suspect is still on the loose, Chandler police spokesman Joseph Favazzo says.

According to Favazzo, the suspect went to the victim's home at 873 East Baylor Lane, where he hit and kicked the elderly homeowner.

After beating the homeowner, the suspect took several weapons before fleeing on a bicycle in the 500 block of East Ray Road in Chandler.

Police say he is currently on foot.

The suspect is described as Hispanic, 5-foot-6, about 150 pounds, and was wearing a black jacket, black pants, and a baseball cap at the time of the home invasion. Police say he may have a white shirt on underneath the jacket.

Favazzo says police continue to search for the suspect. Anyone with information is asked to call the Chandler Police Department at 480-782-4130.
