When rookie Paradise Valley Mayor Vernon Parker announced his interest in running for governor last week, he probably didn't count on the founder of the organization in front of which he made the announcement to be linked to a high-priced hooker scandal.
Not the ideal way to begin a campaign, but welcome to politics Mr. Parker.
Charles Jensen (pictured), founder of the political group "Politics on the Rocks," can find his name and address as client No. 481 on the recently released Desert Diva client list.
Jensen is described on the lengthy list as a non-VIP repeat customer of the service.
According to the list, Jensen entertained hookers at his Scottsdale home on three separate occasions in 2007.
Jensen vehemently denies the connection.
Attempts to reach Mr. Jensen today were unsuccessful, but he told our friends at the Arizona Guardian that he has airline tickets and travel receipts that prove he wasn't even in town when the list shows hookers being at his house.
Jensen says he won't release the documents that could exonerate him from the situation until he talks with his attorney.
"I've hired an attorney to fight anyone who insinuates I had anything to do with this," Jensen tells the Guardian. "This is 100 percent false."
Since news broke of the politico's involvement, two prominent members of "Politics on the Rocks" have left the group, including possible gubernatorial candidate Parker, who served on the group's advisory board, and conservative talk-radio personality Mike Broomhead.
What, these guys don't want to see Jensen's "travel documents" first?
