A Glendale mom was arrested last week after coming up with a pretty convincing way to win an argument with her 17-year-old daughter: hitting her with a car.
Sylvia Aranda, 37, was arrested Friday after witnesses say they watched her hit her daughter with her car near Grand Avenue and Greenway Boulevard in Surprise.
According to Surprise police, Aranda and the girl had been in a heated argument as they were driving in the area, so she pulled over to let the girl out. When the girl got out of the car, Aranda, witnesses later told police, jumped the curb and hit the girl with her 2006 Chrysler as she stood on the sidewalk.
Aranda drove off, but returned to the scene as paramedics were treating the girl for minor injuries.
Aranda's victory in parental authority was overshadowed by the man, however -- she was booked into the Fourth Avenue Jail on one charge of aggravated assault domestic violence.
