Arizona Governor Jan Brewer apparently believes she was given divine authority to rule the people of Arizona.
Arizona Republic Columnist E.J. Montini points out that at a meeting of Lutheran pastors last night, Brewer had this to say:
"And I firmly believe that God has placed me in this powerful position of Arizona's governor to help guide our state through the difficulties that we are currently facing," she says.
Well, since Brewer's on a first-name basis with Him, we have some requests: First, see if the Big Guy feels like helping out with this pesky $3 billion budget shortfall.
Second, some jobs would help. The newest numbers show that Arizona's unemployment rate is at 9.1 percent, and since our holy leader seems to think she is serving by the grace of God, requesting a few more nine-to-fives from the big guy doesn't seem like an unreasonable request.
Let's start with those and see what happens. Just keep in mind; next time the rest of us get to join the Almighty in saying who gets to be governor.
