A gas leak has prompted the evacuation of about 20 homes in the area of Doubletree Ranch and Scottsdale Roads. No injuries were reported, and Southwest Gas has been notified, but Scottsdale Road is closed at Doubletree Ranch in both directions. Traffic is being diverted southbound at Mountain View and northbound at Doubletree Ranch...A Maricopa County Superior Court judge will decide in the next two days whether to try accused rapist Stephen Tuopeh, 15, as a juvenile or as an adult. Tuopeh is accused of leading the gang rape of an 8-year-old Liberian girl last year. If Tuopeh is convicted as an adult, he could spend more than 25 years in prison...

Two hikers from Kansas who went missing at the Grand Canyon have been found safe. Search crews went out after the hikers' families reported them missing on Monday. A helicopter found the men uninjured near the Royal Arch Tuesday afternoon...Political campaign signs in Gilbert have "mysteriously" gone missing. The signs, for Proposition 406, which is a proposed sales tax on the ballot for Gilbert voters, have disappeared from streets this week. City officials say their workers are not taking them down. The Prop 406 vote is May 18...The Chateau on Central has been sold to a Wisconsin food company. The unfinished, luxury brownstone project has been riddled with financial problems, but buyer MSI Investments, LLC paid a reported $7 million for the property, and plans to keep its original configuration of 21 housing units.
