Lisa Aubuchon has managed to eke out a three-week stay of her disbarment.
After being told by the state Supreme Court's Disciplinary Judge that her "staggering mountain of wrongdoing" means she would be officially stripped of her law license today, the Court's duty justice, Robert Brutinel, granted her a temporary stay.
Brutinel wants the stay to remain in effect until May 30, when the Court is scheduled to decide on her petition for special action, which was basically an appeal of her failed appeal for a stay.
Aubuchon has had a private law practice in Tempe since being fired from her job as a deputy county attorney in 2010.
Justice Brutinel also took a hard tone in his order, telling Aubuchon
not to take on any new clients and to make sure her existing clients
know about the April 10 disbarment order by the three-member
disciplinary panel.
In Maricopa County, nothing ever goes smoothly.
