A Mesa woman escaped the clutches of her abusive ex-boyfriend early this morning only to be captured by the man as she tried to call police to tell them he held a razor to her neck.

Mesa cops say, just after midnight, the victim ran into the Circle K convenience store at 1550 North Country Club Drive and tried to call police.

Shortly after the woman entered the store, the suspect, Antwon Smith, rushed in and dragged her out.

Smith tossed the victim into his car as a witness watched and called police.

Cops responded and tried to pull the car over, but Smith wasn't havin' it.

Cops trailed Smith to the Salt River Indian Reservation where they were finally able to take him into custody near Alma School and McKellips roads.

The victim was unharmed, but Smith's been charged with kidnapping after taking the woman on his little joyride.
