Emmett Trapp, 2, was found dead near his home earlier today.

This morning, Prescott Valley police discovered the dead body of a 2-year-old boy who went missing earlier this week.

Cops have been looking for Emmett Trapp since he was reported missing Monday.

Authorities were being fairly tight-lipped on the details of the discovery but say his body was found about a mile from his house about 11:30 a.m. today.

More details are expected later today.

Trapp disappeared Monday night after his mother says he fell asleep wearing only a pajama top and a diaper.

When his mother checked on him at around 8 p.m., he was gone.

Trapp is the second 2-year-old to go missing in the area in just over a week.

Sylar Newton disappeared from his tent while camping at a Yavapai County campground in late July. He's yet to be found.

Authorities called off the search for Newton earlier this week, saying he was likely dead as the result of criminal activity.

Authorities insist the two disappearances are unrelated.
