U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers stopped a furniture truck at the Arizona/ Mexico border and, as luck should have it, the rig was hauling more than just furniture.
Officers found about 330 pounds of weed stashed in a mattress in the back of the truck as the 30-year-old, Mexican driver tried to cross into Arizona near the Naco Port of Entry.
After the truck was stopped about 2 p.m. last Thursday, a drug-sniffing dog indicated to officers that the stuffing in one of the mattresses in the back of the truck was suspicious.
Officers opened the mattress and found the stash, which CBP officials estimate as having a street value of about $730,000.
Officers took the vehicle -- and the weed -- and turned over the driver to Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
