To the right is the first photo released by authorities of accused murderer Braden Rockriver, the 16-year-old accused of murdering his girlfriend's mother on Monday.
Rockriver is being held on a $1 million bond after the Maricopa County Attorney's Office decided yesterday to try the teen as an adult for the murder of 42-year-old Denna Strebe, the mother of his 18-year-old girlfriend.
Rockriver wasn't present at his initial court appearance this morning -- Maricopa County Superior Court spokesman Vincent Funari tells New Times he appeared before a judge from his holding cell.
Rockriver admitted to police that he broke into Strebe's home with the
intention of killing his girlfriend and then taking his own life.
Strebe, however, got in the way and was shot in the head with a pistol
Rockriver stole from his father.
It's unclear whether Rockriver has an attorney yet. His next court appearance is scheduled for August 23.
