A Phoenix woman was found beaten to death Friday morning in the apartment where she was living in Panama City, Panama.
Denise Hiller, a wife and mother, was a computer-software expert working in Panama for a Colorado company that was working on a project expanding the Panama Canal.
While working on the project for about a year, Hiller was staying at a high-rise apartment building in the Paitilla neighborhood of Panama City, Panama-Guide.com reports.
Hiller had a driver provided by the company that would pick her up at the apartment every morning and take her to work. On Friday morning, she never came down from her apartment.
A woman who carpooled with Hiller discovered her dead body in her fifth-floor apartment.
According to Panama-Guide, a member of Panama City's Direction of Judicial Investigation says it is "apparent" she was beaten to death on Thursday night.
So far, Panamanian authorities have released few details about the murder. They claim to have leads but say releasing them could jeopardize the investigation.
Anyone with information is asked to call the FBI.
