Rapper Lil' Wayne for months has been denying charges that he was in possession of an illegal gun back in 2007 in New York City.

Well, with the threat of a January trial, "Lil" has changed his tune.

Wayne copped a surprise plea deal yesterday that could keep him off of drug- and gun-toting tour busses for up to a year.

Wayne plead guilty to attempted weapons-possession charges, after throwing a Louis Vuitton bag with an illegal gun out of his tour bus in midtown Manhattan.

How does someone "attempt" to possess a weapon?

Wayne's next stop on his tour through the American judicial system is right here in Arizona.

On March 30, Wayne is scheduled to stand trial for essentially the exact thing that happened in New York, only this time it happened in Arizona.

In January 2008, after already having been arrested in New York, Wayne's tour bus was stopped as he tried going through a checkpoint near Yuma.

Authorities found a quarter-pound of marijuana, an ounce of cocaine, and 41 grams of Ecstasy.

And, of course, an illegal gun.

Whether Wayne's plea will effect his Yuma trial date is unknown, but, either way, Wayne seems to have found himself in more than a "lil" trouble.
