Unless you live under a rock, you've certainly seen the hilariously nerdy highway signs throughout Arizona — "Aggressive Driving is the path to the dark side" and "Trust the force, but always buckle up."

State employees over at the Arizona Department of Transportation have been channeling their inner child as hype and excitement built about the new Star Wars movie, The Force Awakens, out this weekend.

So who is the genius behind this campaign?

Steve Elliott from ADOT tells New Times in an e-mail that "there’s no one ADOT employee responsible" for the magic. Like the "peas and guacamole" signs from Thanksgiving weekend, these latest ones "were developed within ADOT Communications, with direction from and vetting by the agency’s leadership, to advance ADOT’s goals for promoting safety."

Should motorists expect more signs in the future?

According to Elliott, "There are no firm plans at the moment but don't be surprised to see more coming."

Well, over here at New Times, we're also excited about the new Star Wars movie — so we took the liberty of brainstorming a few options.

You're welcome, ADOT — and may the force be with you.
