Phoenix police Sergeant Tommy Thompson says about 12:15 p.m., the unidentified man went to his home on the 3700 block of South 100th Avenue to find at least one man in his garage.
As the man attempted to block the suspect(s) car from exiting his driveway, he says gunshots were fired from the vehicle, striking the man several times in the body.
Bleeding, the man went to a neighbor's house for help, and the police were called.
Thompson says the man was taken by helicopter to an area hospital, and is expected to live.
Although Thompson first said there were two men who had invaded the home, he now says it could be just one, or more than two.
Neighbors who saw the suspect vehicle told police it was a light-colored small car, and police have not yet released a suspect description.
The name of the injured man has not yet been released by police, but the cops say he lives in the house with his father and siblings.
Phoenix police ask anyone with information about the incident or suspects to call the Phoenix Police Department Violent Crime Bureau at 602-262-6141, or Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS (480-TESTIGO for Spanish).
