A Republican congressional candidate says Democratic Congresswoman Kyrsten Sinema is just waiting for Senator John McCain to be "carried out on a stretcher" so she can run for his Senate seat.

Wendy Rogers, one of the Republican candidates vying to unseat Sinema in Arizona's Ninth Congressional District, made the comment at a recent meeting of Legislative District 18 Republicans.

"Mark my words, she is Nancy Pelosi Jr.," Rogers said. "And she is waiting for John McCain to be carried out on a stretcher so she can run for his seat. Now that might be eight years from now -- she's a young gal. She's 37. No kids, no grandkids, she's got nothin' else to do but do politics."

We have video of her joke below, and while you can hear some people cracking up over it, not everyone thought it was very funny -- which is why the video was sent to us.

Our source says Rogers had just finished talking about the crisis at the VA medical center in Phoenix, so it didn't exactly make for a good transition.

Rogers, a retired Air Force pilot, lost the Republican nomination by a little more than 700 votes in 2012, in a crowded field of Republican candidates. Sinema ended up defeating Republican Vernon Parker in the general election.

The primary field for Republicans is much thinner this time around in CD9, with just Rogers and former ASU quarterback Andrew Walter currently competing for the chance to take on Sinema.
