Farmer in the House Dinner Finale Wednesday, May 28

This Wednesday brings the final installment of the annual Farmer in the House dinner series to Binkley's Restaurant in Cave Creek. Chef Kevin Binkley will be teaming up in the kitchen with farmer Pat Duncan of Duncan's Trading Company to create a six-course dinner showcasing the exotic fruits and vegetables from Duncan's boutique organic farm. The menu includes Cherry Tomato Ceviche, Kale and Prosciutto Salad, Sweet Carrot Soup, Beet Mozzarella, and Melon Granite and costs $96 per person. Hors d'oeuvres begin at 6:30 p.m. and dinner starts at 7 p.m. For reservations call 480-437-1072.

Cartwright's AZ History Dinner: Dolan Ellis, Official Arizona State Balladeer Wednesday, May 28

Every summer Cartwright's Sonoran Ranch House hosts the AZ History Dinner series, which features history presentation and discussions in addition to dinner. The series begins this Wednesday with an evening with Arizona's Official State Balladeer, Dolan Ellis. The event starts at 5 p.m. and will include a presentation, live music and three course dinner for $55 a person. The menu includes margarita salmon ceviche with candied chilies, fresh cilantro and plantain crisps; wild boar chops with annato citrus glaze, tomatillo mint jelly, sweet onion and manchego cheese panade and sautéed dandelion greens; and an Arizona citrus tart. IBCA Roasting Foundation Class Friday, May 30

If you've always wanted to learn the science behind roasting the perfect coffee, then you'll want to get in on the upcoming Roasting Foundation Class offered by the International Barista Coffee Academy. Located in Tempe, the IBCA is the only coffee school certified by the Specialty Coffee Association of Europe in the Americas. The Roasting Foundations Class will give a basic impression and understanding (mainly physical) of the product and roasting process. Students will be instructed to do basic distinguishing between green coffee and roasted coffee; identify change in roaster flame control, repeat the process of timing a roast temperature evolution, repeat how to weigh and record the moisture of green and roasted coffee, and identify the first crack. Taste Talavera: Izakaya Dinner Friday, May 30

This Friday the Four Seasons Scottsdale at Troon North will start it's Taste Talavera summer series with a Japanese Izykaya dinner. Chef de Cuisine Masa Shimakawa of ONYX at Four Seasons Hotel Westlake Village, Cali. will join with Executive Chef Mel Mecinas in creating a menu of inventive Japanese fare, paired with wines and Japanese whiskey. The dinner includes Tempura King Crab and Beef Carpaccio Roll, followed by Soy-Cured Sokeye Salmon, served with a mango yuzu. The next course highlights Maple Leaf Duck Breast, with watermelon, radish, shiitake and plum-sake gastrique. The dinner costs $95 per person, inclusive of wine and whiskey pairings. All Night, Every Night Happy Hour at Roaring Fork Tuesday, May 27 through Monday, September 1

Starting this week, Roaring Fork is celebrating summer by bringing back all night happy hour, seven nights a week. Specials include a $5 Huckleberry Frozen Margarita, martini, and Manhattan.
