Johnny Chu's RedThai Friday, March 21
Earlier this year, we told you that chef Johnny Chu, of Sochu House in Phoenix and T. Spot in Chandler, was planning to open two new spots in Phoenix. And as of this weekend, fans of the chef's Asian cuisine will wait no longer to experience the newest concepts. Chu is opening RedThai Southeast Asian Kitchen at 7822 North 12th Street (12th Street and Northern) this week. The restaurant will be serving Thai and Vietnamese cuisines including pho and Thai noodle dishes -- also including a bar and Southeast Asian street eats, curries, spring rolls, and clay-pot creations. The restaurant will be open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.

The Great American BBQ & Beer Festival Saturday, March 22
This weekend the first of the Valley's bbq fests will bring pitmasters from all over the state and country together for a celebration of all things smoked and meaty. Participating restaurants include Joe's Real BBQ, Paletas Betty, Bourbon Jacks, DGP Gourmet Fry Bread, and Sweet Magnolia Smokehouse. The festival, which will be held in Historic Downtown Chandler, will begin at at noon and will run until 10 p.m. Tickets cost $8 when bought in advance at any Valley Bashas' location or $10 if purchased online or at the gate. "Aprons, Aprons, Aprons" Pop Up Shop Saturday, March 22
We've already told you about the awesome custom-made aprons being made by Angela Muniz, a.k.a. Girl from Arizona, and this weekend she'll be having a pop up shop at at Echo Coffee in Scottsdale. This Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Muniz will be selling aprons for all ages and sizes that range from $25 to $45. She'll also be debuting The Beer Maker Apron, her latest design inspired by her own experiences in brewing. The three styles of Beer Maker Apron come with a slender pocket on the chest for pens and thermometers, a towel loop, and a split pocket at the waist is divided to hold a notebook in one half and refractors and other items on the other. The apron also introduces the GFA Razorback ties, meant to eliminate the uncomfortable pull some feel get from a neck loop. For more information check out the GFA Aprons website.
The Vig Uptown's 4th Anniversary Party Sunday, March 23
This weekend The Vig Uptown will be celebrating four years of business by offering some pretty great deals on both food and drinks. This Sunday head to the Phoenix bar and restaurant, located at 6015 N 16th St., to get half off everything except entrees -- so that means appetizers like Sonoran ceviche, cheesy tater tots, and Hot Vings. And if you can't make it this weekend, don't worry. You can still cash in on $4 Tito's Vodka drinks all through the month of March.
