On Monday many of us will be taking the day off to relax and remember the men and women who have given their lives while serving in the United States Armed Forces. And because we're America, that usually means a lot of eating and drinking...and then more eating.
But if you're not planning on throwing some meat on the grill -- and even if you are at some point -- here are a few places around town that will be celebrating the holiday weekend by offering deals on food and drinks.

Salut Kitchen Bar
Tempe's Salut Kitchen Bar is a comfy wine bar with more than 100 types of New and Old World wines available by the glass and bottle. Friday, May 23rd through Monday, May 26 the bar and restaurant will also be pouring $5 pitchers of Rolling Rock in honor of Memorial Day.
El Chorro
On Sunday, May 25 El Chorro in Paradise Valley will offer a Memorial Day bbq platter. The special three-course menu will include a half rack of BBQ ribs, corn on the cob, coleslaw, blueberry pie a la mode, and more. The meal costs $ 36 a person. For reservations call 480-948-5170.
The Cove Trattoria
This family-owned Italian restaurant located in Scottsdale's Seville shopping center is kicking off the summer season with a new lineup of summer cocktails and a few boozy deals. rom Memorial Day until Labor Day, guests can enjoy $2 off any specialty drink, normally priced between $7.50 and $9.50. The Cove's summer-inspired drinks include the Blackberry Cooler with muddled blackberries, mint, simple syrup and bourbon over ice and the Limoncello Collins with limoncello, gin, lemon juice, topped with club soda, ice and mint garnish.
SOL Cocina
If you want to enjoy brunch on Memorial Day, head to SOL Cocina at the Scottsdale Quarter. The restaurant is extending their weekend brunch in celebration of the holiday. From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the restaurant will be serving $3 mimosas and dishes such as Crab & Shrimp Cakes 'Benedicto', Chorizo & Potato Scramble and Jamon y Huevos Quesadilla Roll.
Chompie's
Now through Tuesday, May 27 Chompie's is offering a deal on Homemade Deli Salads. Get ready for your Memorial Day barbecue with one pound of a Chompie's deli salad and you'll get another half pound free. Choose from potato salad, fruit salad, macaroni salad, Israeli salad, Clairmont salad, coleslaw, chicken salad, tuna salad, smoked whitefish salad, egg salad or Grandma Sadie's chopped liver.
The Shout House
West Valley dueling piano bar, The Shout House, will be waiving cover for those with a valid military I.D. on Friday, May 23 and Saturday, May 24. All weekend long they'll also be offering $2 domestic draft beers, $3 shot specials, and $5 Freedom Fries with 1,000 Island sauce, grilled onions and cheese. The Shout House will open nightly, from May 23 to 26 at 7 p.m.; pianos begin at 8 p.m.
Paul Martin's American Grill
On Sunday, May 25th and Monday, May 26th, Paul Martin's American Grill at the Borgata Center in Scottsdale will be offering a special Wine Dinner for Two. For $49, partys of two can receive an organic green salad and entrée for each guest, along with a choice of one bottle from a selection of 25 wines to share.
