Number 88: La Jawab Kadahi Gosht at The Dhaba
Lamb dishes might make a special appearance on menus around town, but there are few restaurants with as much of a selection as The Dhaba, a friendly, stylish little joint on Apache west of the 101 in Tempe.
Here, there are seven different preparations of lamb to choose from -- and let me tell you, it's tough to narrow it down to just one. They're all scrumptious.
La Jawab Kadahi Gosht is a keeper, though. Tender chunks of lamb are served in a thick stew with tomatoes, green pepper, and onions. Even when done up "mild," the dish is perfumed with exotic spices and a touch of heat tempered with yogurt. Whether you eat it with a pile of fragrant basmati rice or a some soft, hot-outta-the-tandoor naan, you'll want to clean your plate.
