Mesa residents with an appreciation for Cajun and Creole fare will be able to satisfy their cravings soon. Baby Kay's, the longtime Valley Cajun restaurant formerly located at Town & Country Shopping Center until August, is getting ready to open a restaurant at 2051 South Dobson Road in Mesa. The new location should be serving such classic Cajun dishes as jambalaya, red beans and rice, and shrimp rémoulade in the next few weeks.
And don't worry, Phoenix fans, there's something in the works for you, too.

The Mesa location of Baby's Kays will take over what used to be The Cajun Seafood Corner and is expected to open by February 14. Look forward to classic Louisiana and Southern dishes including gumbo, crawfish etoufée, and a selection of po-boys.
Meanwhile, renovations are ongoing for the restaurant's new location in Phoenix. As we told you in July, Baby Kay's will open in a building at 1582 East Bethany Home Road that once housed Richardson's Cuisine of New Mexico. Richardson's relocated a few blocks north in 2012, after a fire closed it down.
The Phoenix location, when it's ready, will be a bi-level space about 300 square feet bigger than the old spot at Town & Country. Originally, it was expected to open in November, but a new opening date has not been announced.
