As of December, Coal Burger, the "burgeria with a conscience" from the folks at Grimaldi's Pizza, is no more. The restaurant, which opened in March 2011 at the Scottsdale Quarter (a Chandler location followed a few months later), featured natural grass-fed beef burgers cooked in a coal-fired brick oven, fries made in rice bran oil, and shakes and floats made with gelato.

Taking its place at the Scottsdale Quarter will be a spin-off of a downtown spot.

The Republic reports C3 Kitchen, a casual coffee and eatery from Ashly Young of Chloe's Corner in downtown Phoenix, will open this summer.

Young's new restaurant, the Republic goes on to say, will be open for breakfast and lunch and will include grab-and-go selections as well as a bakery.
